Bosch Dishwasher and Washer Error Codes: What Supers Should Know
Bosch dishwasher and washer codes from Bosch's US support pages, including the drain codes a super can usually clear and the leak codes that can't wait.
The Bosch dishwasher codes a super sees most are drain codes (E22, E24, E25), and those are usually a blocked filter, a loose pump cover or a kinked drain hose that can be cleared on site. E15 is different: it means water has been found in the base and the leak protection has tripped, so shut off the water and send a work order. Bosch washers follow a similar split between drain and door codes you can check and drive or leak codes you can't.
The tables below come from Bosch's US owner-support error code pages. Newer Bosch dishwashers can show a longer four-digit form of the same code (E6102 instead of E25, for example), so both are listed where Bosch gives them.
Bosch dishwasher codes
| Code | What it means | What the tenant or super can safely check | Send a work order? |
|---|---|---|---|
| E15 (E3100), or flashing Active light | Water in the base; leak protection activated | Turn off the water to the dishwasher | Yes |
| E22 (E9240) | Dishwasher filter blocked | Remove the filter, wash it under running water with mild soap and a soft brush, reinstall | If it returns |
| E24 (E6103) | Drain blocked | Drain hose not kinked; pump cover secure; if it drains into a disposer, the disposer's drain-port plug removed | If those are fine |
| E25 (E6102) | Drain pump blocked, or pump cover loose or missing | Power off, remove the filter, pry off the pump cover, clear debris and standing water (watch for glass), reattach until it clicks | If it returns |
| E23 (E6101) | Drain pump blocked, clogged or faulty | Nothing | Yes |
| E14 (E3000) | Flow meter failure or a water-filling problem | Nothing | Yes |
| E16, E17 (E3300, E3400) | Water may not be entering | Inlet hose not kinked or damaged | If the hose is fine |
| E18 (E3200) | Water level too low or not pumped correctly | Inlet hose not kinked; water supply valve on | If supply is fine |
| E12 (E2060) | Limescale in the heat pump | Descale with Bosch descaler; refill softening salt if the model has a softener | If descaling doesn't clear it |
| E27 (E9001) | House power supply too low | Breaker off 30 seconds, back on | Yes if it recurs: the voltage needs an electrician |
| E01, E02, E03, E05 | Control board faults (heat pump circuit, relay, diverter) | Breaker off 30 seconds, back on | If not resolved |
| E06 (E8000) | Door sensor circuit fault | Breaker off 30 seconds, back on | If not resolved |
| E09, E20, E21 | Heat pump heater fault, or heat pump blocked | Breaker off 30 seconds, back on | If not resolved |
| E04 (E0105) | Faulty heater electronics | Nothing | Yes |
| 4 LEDs flashing with beeping | Technical fault | Press On/Off, cut power at least 2 minutes, restore | If it recurs: shut off water and unplug first |
| H01, h02 and so on | Not an error: delay start is set | Press the + or − button until h:00 shows | No |
Bosch also uses beeps on some models. Three beeps suggest water at the base, and five beeps may also point to water at the base and may need a technician.
Bosch washer codes
These come from Bosch's US washer error code page. Some codes appear in more than one form (E18 or F18, for example).
| Code | What it means | What the tenant or super can safely check | Send a work order? |
|---|---|---|---|
| E18, F18 | Drain hose blocked or kinked | Unplug; straighten and clean the drain hose; clean the drain pump (water may be hot); test with the Drain program | If it persists |
| E:36 -25, E:38 -25 | Drain pump blocked | Clean the drain pump per the manual | If it persists |
| E:30 -80, E:36 -10 | Drain problem | Drain hose not kinked or more than 39 inches high; pump cap tight; not too much detergent | If those are fine |
| E17, F17, F29 | Inlet filters or AquaStop hose blocked, or low water pressure | Shut the tap, disconnect the hose, clean the filters, reconnect, check for leaks | If filters are clean; low pressure is a plumber's job |
| E:92 -01 | Low water pressure or blocked inlet filters | Clean the inlet filters | If filters are clean |
| E16, F16, E34, F34 | Door not locked | Close the door until it clicks; clear anything caught; restart | If it persists |
| E32, F32, E:60 -2B, H:32 | Load imbalanced | Mix large and small items; close zippers and buttons | Only on normal loads |
| E33, F33 | Detergent foam detected | Use less detergent | No |
| E:00 -23 | Water in the base or the washer is leaking | Turn off the water tap | Yes |
| E80 | Drive circuit fault | Nothing; Bosch says only an authorized technician can fix it | Yes |
| CL | Child lock on | Turn it off (see the manual) | No |
| Any other code | Operational fault | Power off and on; if it returns, unplug at least 30 seconds | If it still shows |
We did not find a Bosch support page listing dryer or refrigerator codes, so this note covers dishwashers and washers only.
What a super can try first
These are Bosch's own steps. Turn the appliance off first, and don't open anything beyond the filter and pump cover Bosch tells owners to remove.
- Breaker reset. For most dishwasher control codes, Bosch says reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. Write the code down first.
- Dishwasher filter. For E22, remove the filter at the bottom of the tub, wash it with mild soap and a soft brush, and put it back.
- Pump cover. For E25, with the filter out, pry off the pump cover, clear debris and standing water, and press it back on until it clicks. Bosch warns that debris may be sharp.
- Drain path. For E24, look for a kinked drain hose and a clogged air gap. If it drains into a disposer, make sure the plug in the disposer's dishwasher drain port was removed.
- Washer drain pump. For E18 or F18, unplug, then clean the drain hose and pump as the manual shows. Use towels and a shallow pan, and expect hot water.
- Inlet filters. For E17 or F17, shut the tap and clean the filters in the hose connection.
When to send a work order
Send one right away for:
- E15 on a dishwasher or E:00 -23 on a washer. Both mean water in the base. Shut off the water and don't run it again.
- E23, E14 or E04 on a dishwasher, or E80 on a washer.
- Four LEDs flashing with beeping that comes back after the power-off.
Send one after a single round of the steps above for:
- E22, E24 or E25 that come back after the filter, pump cover and hose are checked.
- E16, E17 or E18 with the supply on and hoses clear.
- Control codes (E01 to E03, E05 to E10, E19 to E21) that return after a 30-second breaker reset.
- E27 that recurs. Bosch's next step is an electrician to check the incoming voltage.
- E18 or F18 on a washer after the hose and pump are cleaned.
Include the exact code, the model and serial number, and what was already tried.
